John asks…
Where can I find information about Solar Power (PV) in Arizona?
I live in Phoenix and am looking for information regarded the possibility of installing solar on my home.
-Incentives
-Price
-Choosing a contractor

Henry Dover answers:
You can contact me. I have been living on solar for a little over 16 years now, and have learned most of the pros and cons of solar living. I have a good friend who is a licensed , bonded and insured elect. Contractor that does nothing else but install solar . He installs all over the world. I can show you the actual costs, rebates, tax credits and even what amount aps will reimburse you for doing just exactly what your talking about Rock

Thomas asks…
If fuel prices continue to rise new realities will determine our actions?
Greater use of railways. Nuke power stations. Public transport. Commuter electric cars. Working at home via computer. The return of neighbourhood shops. Walking. Reconection with neighbours. Solar powered homes. The decline of the far away holiday house. In the future our vastly mobiile lifestyle may seem like an unreal fantasy. What do others think?

Henry Dover answers:
That will never happen
Nuclear power in america is just not a good idea, all the liberal hippies will not let them do that, it might hurt a flower.
Electric cars, not when there is still iol my friend, too many bigwigs have too much money invested to let that happen.
No solar power, too many people have too much money invested. Far away holiday, C’Mon people like to travel to get away, it will never happen my friend, and many people have family far away.
Rail ways, that may happen, but very little will be done, too many people have too much invested to let oil prices go down.
Its all politics…
If the damn hippiesmlet the goverment put up refinerys for oil and let them drill for oil, the prices will go down but they dont want a damn flower to get hurt. And oil refineries take about 10 years to build, from start to finish, so you cant count on that any time soon my friend.
In other words, Keep dreaming, it will not happen in your life time or mine, Maby my great grand children may see a day like that, but til then you just have to keep shelling out the doe for high gas prices.

Linda asks…
What is the price of a solar shingle?
i am doing a report on solar power shingles for a home, i was suppose to pick a product and improve it, i have, all i need now is the price, could someone give me an estimate or the exact price of solar shingles?

Henry Dover answers:
One shingle will produce an average of 15 watts of power.
The average price is about $10-$12/watt.
Ie: a shingle costs $100-$150.00 ea.
Average price to convert an 2000sq.ft. Home to solar power is in excess of $50,000.00
average lifespan/warranty on solar shingles is 20-25 years
They will never pay for themselves at this rate. Other types of solar panels however can be cost effective.

Richard asks…
to help the environment don’t you think we should have cars run on solar power instead of gas?
to help the environment don’t you think we should have cars run on solar power instead of gas? I mean not only would it be healthier for the environment but it would keep gas prices down too and the energy would be coming from a long lasting energy source if we take care of it right the only would be for people who work late when the sun goes down , how would they get home?

Henry Dover answers:
It sounds great, but it’s currently impossible. The existing solar panels aren’t strong enough to collect enough energy to run the car, even if you covered the entire car with them. Remember, you’re trying to move 2000 lbs or more of metal and plastic. If the panels could collect enough energy, they could store it in a battery, like electric cars do now, and that would allow people to get home when the sun went down, but until we can get the solar technology to work, the whole idea fails.
