I’m looking for 12v deep cycle batteries on sale for solar power?

I’m looking for 12v deep cycle batteries on sale for solar power?
I am looking for a web site which will sell some 12v deep cycle batteries. I am going green at my home in Alabama. I am wishing to buy several 12v deep cycle batteries at a good discount. 2nd’s and blemished batteries are OK. Auto stores like NAPA and others, pick up there old batteries which dont sell in the auto stores. I would be happy to buy them. Any web sites for me to check out please send them to me. Thanks Richard

Henry Dover answers:

I understand your objective Richard, but would sincerely recommend that you re-consider how you should go about achieving it.

I don’t recommend 12v batteries for your project and certainly don’t recommend using anything less than first quality batteries – you can still find them at low prices.

A better storage solution is deep cycle 6volt batteries. The 6v batteries will do a much better job, last longer, allow a deeper discharge and a higher number of re-charge cycles.

You want your batteries to be the same size, type and age to work together best. I use 4- 6v batteries in my RV along with a single solar panel and can stay out in the desert for days without ever having to fire up my generator.

Here’s a link to a great article on the subject:

HELP! Why was my land for sale ad pulled off of Craig’s List? Am I a SPAMMER?

Day before yesterday I posted an ad on Craig’s List in Vancouver, B.C. for some nice property I have for sale in Northern Arizona. Then I got an email this morning to tell me it had been flagged and pulled. No explanation as to WHY! The link to the ad is dead now, ovbiously, but here’s a copy of the ad’s title and first 2 sentences…

“$125,000 26-38 Acres Of Gorgeous Land In N. AZ- PERFECT 4 Season Climate!”

“We’re offering 2 large parcels of land for sale in drop-dead-gorgeous rural Northern Arizona. One is 26 acres with a 3 Bedroom 2 Bath mobile home, a solar power system, and great well ($125,000). One is 38 acres, undeveloped ($135,000)”. I included a link to my website –

http://www.landinarizona.net

– but I don’t think THAT is a problem! So WHAT IS? It was a very straightforward ad. I’m fairly NEW at posting on CL, but I’ve read their rules carefully and I’m pretty convinced I did nothing wrong!. I went onto their “flagged HELP forum” and heard from some very UNPLEASANT people, to put it very nicely, and I still don’t have an answer to my question!

IS IT AGAINST CRAIGS LIST RULES TO POST SOMETHING FOR SALE IN ANOTHER AREA…OTHER THAN WHERE YOU LIVE?
The way I read things it just says you can’t post IN MORE THAN ONE TOWN AT A TIME. so if I DON’T post it in Arizona…ONLY IN CANADA wouldn’t that be okay???

PLEASE help if you can. I don’t want to get banned for breaking the rules. Is what I did a REAL fubar?

Henry Dover answers:

I suspect the issue is with your link, most people see a link (particularly one as suspicious as yours sounds) and report it as spam.

Just remember…you get what you pay for on craigs list.

if solar energy can run the space station ,why can’t it power your home?

with the high cost of energy,$300.00 a month light bills and natural gas prices for the homes in the winter time going through the roof, why shouldn’t people be able to buy solar energy systems at an affordable price.Only the people who can afford to pay the high cost of heating an air conditioning can afford solar energy.Who and what is keeping this price of this technology out of the hands of the average person ? Why is the price so high ?If the price was lower more people would buy it and they still could make lots of money because of the large numbers of sales. It would also save a larger value of natural gas for future use in other places.
Well ,sorry to inform you ,but anybody and everybody and his little brother knows that there is no way to hookup utilities to the space station. In this age of people’s exposure to high technology ,I looked for more answers that made sense.People who can afford it have already proven that it can work in homes so that isn’t what I am looking for in an answer. The biggest problem with solar energy is that it is too expensive for the average person to put into their homes. The heart of the question is ,What and who is keeping this technology from being used,The price of energy is sky high and we are useing it up.We need to save on energy/ natural gas and we need to cut down on the use of coal because of polutions.Cannon E and peter J,stop looking at the question as if you think its a stupid Question(its not) people asking Questions is the way all problems are solved.

Henry Dover answers:

You Absolutely completely can! The only limiting factor is the amount of energy your house uses. It would take 7 to 10 thousand dollars (which is not a huge expense if your building a home) to make enough power to run an average home.

But if your willing to make a few minor adjustments to your lifestyle, you can be extremely efficient and get buy on just a few 75 watt panels.
