Maria asks…

how is Anthony Louis as an astrological writer? how his book on Solar returns is?

how his book on Solar returns is too? (if have read)

please describe what you can about him and his books.. (particularly the one on Solar returns..how compared to other ones? and why so difficult to find a good book on solar returns? which authors have even better ones and how?

thanks for your answers!

Henry Dover answers:

Anthony Louis, the pen name used by Dr. Anthony Louis Labruzza, is a psychiatrist who has practiced astrology as an avocation for over 30 years. He’s written good beginner’s books on horary and tarot. Using his real name, Labruzza, he translated volume 18 of French astrologer Jean Baptiste Morin’s Astrologia Gallica, a 26 volume tome first published in Latin in 1661, 5 years after Morin’s death.

His interest in Morin or Morinus as he preferred to be called, led him to study book 23 (translated by James Holden) on Revolutions, the old name for solar returns. From book 23 he became intrigued by another more contemporary astrologer (20th century) named Alexandre Volguine (1903 – 76). Volguine published a book on solar returns and incorporated a lot of Morin’s ideas into his work. Louis’ book on solar returns spends a lot of time on Volguine, but references Morin often as well.

Louis’ book is accurate and informative. It should be read on its own merits, not as a commentary on Morin. Morin’s volume 23 (published by AFA) is outstanding, but if the reader is not familiar with Morin and his methods, it will leave him scratching his head. Morin is not easy reading. It isn’t that the subject matter is so difficult, but rather his style, considered scholarly in the 17th century, is tedious when read in contemporary English. The astrology, however is among the best ever written. Start with Louis.

Daniel asks…

does the MC/IC axis in a Solar Return progress 1 degree per day same as the AC/DC axis and Sun?

if progress the Sun 1 degree per day in a Solar return..can you progress the AC/DC axis also,,since it is the horizons changing 1 degree that makes the sun appear to do this? also, how about the MC/IC axis?

please explain what you can…how ALL planets in a solar return or mars return or venus return would progress 1 degree per day..and how come many solar return books dont mention about progressing 1 degree per day? how accurate can be used progressing the angles or the sun and moon and planets inside the solar return?

anything can explain appreciated

thanks for your answers!
WHY THE ECONOMY IS/HAS NOT BEEN STABLE ? (AS THIS TIES INTO MAIN QUESTION)

Henry Dover answers:

Progressing the angles is done by using the S.T. At GMT and determining the difference between the date of the S.R. And the date you are looking at. Add the S.T. At GMT for the date you are looking at for the RAMC for the solar return, and you will get your angles. Use your Table of Houses and latitude to determine the Ascendant.
The Ascendant will not progress at the same rate as the MC if you are using the Placidean house system (which we mostly do).

Why has the economy not been stable? My local astrological organization devoted a lecture to that about 4 years ago … I did not memorize down the astrological factors, but noted the consensus that the economy would not recover until around 2020, and when it became normal again it would be a different “normal” from what it had previously been.

Ruth asks…

is the astrological writer Noel Tyle very good and his book “Solar Arcs”?

why this book is so highly rated on Amazon? as it seems like it is mostly just recorded conversations he had with clients..while studying their charts?

please explain what you can about him and his book. how compared to other books on same subject?

thanks for your answers!

Henry Dover answers:

Noel Tyl is an excellent astrologer. I was already studying it when he started publishing, but he rounded out my knowledge nicely.

My mother had already been using Solar Arc Progressions for 20 years when Noel came on the scene. She swore by Solar Arc. And I spent 5 years giving free readings to people who would give me feedback … And found that the Solar Arc had much greater predictive value than major transits, which (in turn) had greater predictive value than Secondary Progressions. Solar and lunar returns came in a far last in terms of correlation with actual events in people’s lives … Fairly useless.
