According to a talk conducted with 15,000 children between four and 14 years, old 92% wish for a healthier environment. 89% want to help the environment themselves and 48% would even be willing to give a part of their pocket money for the protection of nature.

It has never happened before, that kids have been so nervous about their personal future. Children fear all kinds of catastrophes from water and soil issues to air pollution and the growing piles of garbage.

When children get into active themselves, their fear becomes smaller. Children act with a lot of seriousness and engagement when dealing with their environment’s problems. Equaly, they can react with indifference when they see that they are causing no immediate change.

Therefore, it is essential that you support your children in their activities for nature and show a good excellent. As Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Be an example yourself for your children in all matters relating to the welfare of your local and your global environment.

There are some Groups who offer help and advice on this worldwide. For example, Greenpeace inc. have a Greenpeace youth project.

The group Greenteam was founded in September, 1990 by Greenpeace for kids and teenagers. In the Greenteam 5-6 or more kids or youngsters can decide a detailed cause for which they will offer their time. Mostly they pick smaller projects from their local environment. Each team is supported by an adult.

The nature preservation alliance of Germany is another fine example of getting kids active for nature protection. They send out information about how can kids actively help out in environment protection. For instance, they build ponds for frogs and toads, construct nests for birds, gather garbage to clean the local natural environment and lots more.

The nature conservation alliance can also give you addresses of active nature conservation children groups in your proximity.

There are other big environmental federations such as

World Wildlife Fund (WWF),
Greenpeace international

If you would like to help join in the fight in opposition to global warming, you will want to get in action soon. The sooner we all take action, the easier it will be to make a successful, united stance against global warming.

To get you started, you may want to look at your home and your vehicle. If you are unable to purchase an energy efficient vehicle then carpool. Change your petrol-based engine to a hybrid engine by yourself, or use public transportation as much as possible. Consider combining as many errands together in one trip as possible.

As for your home, limit your electricity uses by only running your dishwasher when it is full. Use solar power for homes wherever possible and always opt for energy efficient light bulbs. If it is cold, close a window, put on a sweater or jumper. Wherever possible, turn your heating down, even just a few degrees and if possible, install your own renewable energy supply with solar panels and wind turbines.
Leave your car on the parking plot whenever you can. Consider starting your own legitimate work from home based opportunities to avoid the lenghty and expensive commute.
