    Depends on the technology you use.

    Curved reflectors raising steam for a turbine could well be much cheaper that photo-voltaic cells.

    40 kW is enough for 20-30 homes, not counting time when the sun is not shining.

    cost is about US$4 per W, so you are looking at $160,000 for the panels alone. Then factor in the batteries, charger, inverter, and installation, and you are over $200,000. Way over.

    Why would you need this much power? Most homes could run easily on 10kw. If this is a business then that is different and will cost a small fortune.
