"President Obama will travel to Copenhagen at the start of the United Nations conference on climate change on Dec. 9 just before flying to Oslo to accept the Nobel Peace Prize, White House officials said Wednesday….
Mr. Obama will tell the delegates to the climate conference that the United States intends to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions “in the range of” 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020 and 83 percent by 2050, officials said."

a rare moment of honesty for jerry, admitting that deniers live in a dreamland.
Lots of answers from irrational conspiracy nuts.
I think this is a good gesture by Obama, but he’s basing it off legislation that has passed the House but not the Senate yet. It would be nice if the U.S. joined Europe in taking the lead on this issue.

Do they not teleconference?
Air force 1 sure puts off alot of carbon emissions.

It shows that he is even more out of touch with reality than I originally believed. Only the weak minded believe in the whole global warming scam.

What’s wrong with CO2?
Obama is an embarassment. Let’s hope he keeps failing.

I value it about as much as his promise not to raise middle class taxes. The man is a buffoon and an embarrassment. If he lowers CO2, it will be due to his attack on American prosperity.

Global warming is overstated and they can’t get it right so they call it Global Climate Change.
The only way to limit the amount of C02 is to limit and reduce production of everything. Our way of life will suffer. The goal is to bring developed country down to thier level rather then bring 3rd world countries up to ours.
Isn’t C02 plant food? By limiting C02 doesn’t that actually harm the plants like stepping on an airhose?

More proof that Obama is a moron.
It’s good news because it increases the chances of failure for the warmers and victory for everyone else.

shouldn’t be any problem. our emissions are already falling because of the damper his policy’s have put on our economy.
a 5.9% reduction for this year alone according to this official U.S. government estimate. at this rate our emission’s will be down another 15% to 20% by 2012.

this is similar to Russia pledging to target its emissions at 25% below 1990 levels by 2020, which just by coincidence is where they are today.

hopefully Obama will be able to sell our unused emissions credits for $10 per ton as everyone else is doing.

actually I thought Nobama would do just the opposite, like getting to the bottom of the AGW scandal by maybe a special prosecutor and then putting the guilty on trial

In that Obama has appoligised for our country to every living person on the planet, I guess it’s only logical for him to sign on to a bill that would have us give our wealth to third world countries under the name of "Eco-Justice".
The big question…in that any treaty has to be ratified by the senate…is, does he think he can get them to bite. Remember, Clinton didn’t even bring the Kyoto treaty before the senate as he knew he couldn’t get it passed.
I’m sure that comes as a surprise, but yes, Clinton was the one who did not sign on to Kyoto…not Bush.

Obama’s entitled to go of course, but unless he campaigned on CO2 reduction prior to your last election it’s not ethical to pledge any cuts which will hurt your economy. It’s not like this issue is new, or that he wasn’t well aware of it.
But when liberals govern this is how they do things.

I think it’s lip service. I wouldn’t have expected anything less.
It’s funny, the alarmists questions and answers have sure taken a different direction lately. All answers are defensive and all questions are down side roads.

Wait until the 2010 elections when Democrats get booted from office and then Obamamenia will be stifled and he will be a lame duck. Dana is living amongst the clouds again, star struck by his apostle and the Obama Creed.
Appears the tide of public opinion of this hoax is going way down and thus the insults from people like Bucket22 are rising. Someone should graph that relationship and show all the noise of Dana, Dawei, Gwen etc. as little dots surrounding the facts.

Well he certainly should attend by teleconference. He should definately fly over there in AF 1, and demonstrate that CO2 is not a problem. While he is there, I am certain he will be able to accomplish nothing but shaking a few babies and kissing a few hands. I am also curious how he intends on making good on that promise, when Crap and Trade is doomed to utter failure. Perhaps he will allow the EPA to act unconstitutionally? Maybe the EPA will act with powers that they have not been granted. Maybe the Supreme court will see this as the threat to the constitution that it is and stop it from occurring. Maybe the supreme court will act in self-interest and realize that allowing this to occur will give the executive branch too much power, and take away power form the judicial branch in the process.
Skyhawk,
Come on now, he only bows to "royalty" who are Islamic and have taken over by military coupes. How many of those leaders could there be?
EDIT:
Oh wait I figured out how Obama will be able to do what he is promising. He’ll continue to give money to the greedy banks, increase unemployment, pass more taxes, and put our economy in the crapper. YEAHHHH president, you go get em’.

I think that his decision is telling. If he actually does go ahead and "agree" to the cuts (as stated in the NY Times) then his political career is finished! It signals that he most likely has cut a deal with Hillary Clinton so that she would be the Democratic Nominee for President in 2012.
Now make no mistake, the US will not do the cuts as Obama is agreeing to do since he does not have that authority, so in a sense he is actually not exposing the US to anything but scorn and anger from the international community. The blowback, however from the US citizens, will be so intense however, that he will not survive politically. A Senate Bill on Climate Change would be Dead On Arrival!
The good news for Obama however, is that he still gets to keep the $1,000,000 Nobel Prize. He and Al Gore can go out for beers and have a good laugh!

Wow, Dana! You’ve scared up every AGW denier on this Yahoo topic (I count 16). How do you feel? They hate you, because they’re scared of you.
Obama is showing leadership where there has been none.

Also, in the wake of the hacked emails, I also question the integrity of some of the AGW scientists.

I think, again, that it’s a step in the right direction. With the US as leaders on this path, we certainly have a shot at rebuilding our manufacturing base and restoring our economy. If we continue down the denier path of fossil fuel use, we’re doomed to keep our huge and growing trade deficit and slide into insignificance on the world stage.
