More great news from Go Solar Power For Homes! Shea Homes has become the first US national builder to make solar power for homes available on all their future homes.
Their decision is made in response to a recent Harris Interactive/Trilogy poll conducted by Shea Homes that found that the next generation of homebuyers are already ranking solar power for homes as the number one most important feature of a green home.
So, as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to bring down the price of home ownership and encourage people to go solar power for homes, systems incorporating solar power for homes will be included as an optional feature on its Shea Green Certified (TM) homes, beginning immediately.
To do this, Victoria Gardens has joined with BP Solar, a global leader in the field of solar power for homes. Their plan is to include solar panels at no extra cost, thereby reducing their customers’ electric bills by up to 60 percent per home.
They estimate that the occupants’ carbon footprint will fall by about 48 percent per home. The homes will overdeliver, exceeding on the 2006 International Energy Code by a whacking 45 percent.
As a perfect counterbalance to the volatile energy markets, the homes at Victoria Garden will run 3-kilowatt solar power for homes systems, thereby combining energy efficiency with solar power for homes.
Further good news for those interested in solar power for homes comes in the form of the US government’s decision to support renewable energy sources. Last week, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 extended the Solar Investment Tax Credit for eight years. They also lifted the cap on the current $2,000 allowance and gave the green light on the Credit being applied toward a homeowner’s alternative minimum tax.
Consequently, all new Shea Homes homebuyers in Victoria Gardens, will enjoy a massive 30 percent solar tax credits (based on the cost of their solar power for homes system).
In addition to the solar power for homes systems, further green features that come as standard in Victoria Gardens include solar attic fans and Energy Star-rated efficient appliances.
This is a grand scale US-wide introduction of solar power for homes. We look forward to seeing the response from Shea Homes’ competitors. It’s got to be great news all round!
