President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives is acting as a messenger for 350.org when he calls on the world to join the 350 International Day of Climate Action on October 24, 2009.
It is proposed that as large a number of people as possible gather to demand a climate treaty that reduces Carbon Dioxide to 350 parts per million.
According to the latest science, any level above 350ppm will guarantee that the beautiful islands of the Maldives will officially become extinct.
It’s time to WAKE UP everyone!
Right now, we are already at 390ppm. THREE HUNDRED AND NINETY parts per million everyone.
Sea level is rising. With increased emphasis on solar power for homes and other sustainable alternative energy forms we undoubtedly do have the technology available to lower the concentration of C02 in the atmosphere and thereby realise the goal of returning the planet to 350ppm.
However, we must act now, and we must act together.
Visit the 350.org website and join President Nasheed by registering or attending an event near you. Watch this video from the President himself for more details …
