There is no doubt about the fact that a homemade solar power generation technique could cost a lot dollars to build. It is also true on the other hand that these costs could be restricted to being one time costs. That investment could allow you to literally disappear your monthly electricity bills.

However, let’s be straight with you. The up front costs for buying these systems is huge – normally well outside of the reach of the average individual. These systems are only made by very limited companies and sold at a much higher rate to the normal individuals or to the government.

Solar power is looking attractive to almost every individual in the world. A solar power energy system can be very efficient, producing the cleanest output for energy, but the cost factor continues to hinder the solar power energy generating industry and its increasingly more sophisticated techniques.

These techniques cost a lot of money even for governments. Though there are many products being made by companies for normal use at home. Products like solar garden lights, solar powered swimming pool pumps and the solar water fountains.

The fact that they cost a lot is not because the technology used to generate the energy, but because of the technology known to very limited people. Since only a few companies in the world produce these solar powered products therefore they sell it at a very high price as they know they do not have the many competitors.

What’s interesting about these solar power products is the fact that you can even build some at home. Without any proper education and without being an engineer you can still build a solar powered product.

There are many kinds of home made products available today. You can make a one by knowing  some simple mechanics. It is also true that you could make one using materials found in your local dump yard.

The most common home made solar product is a solar hot water heater. It can be built with the help of simple wooden blocks, aluminum sheets and glass. This would be made to work as well as an ordinary solar water heater that might cost thousands of dollars.

That being said, when it comes to installing electrical equipment into your household, it is always advisable to ensure everything is checked by a qualified electrician. Do not do this stage yourself.

I am realizing the huge expense to totally solarizing your home. I am working on it small pieces at a time as you have mentioned. I have my landscaping and fountain solar as well as my RV batteries and hot tub; baby steps.
