As we all know we are in a recession and Global Warming is at its highest yet. Many celebrities and other people are stepping up and saying they are going to be more eco-friendly, yet right after they declare that in their press conference they drive off in their massive gas guzzling SUV’s. Personally I think the whole concept is just another fad that will come and go. Everyone is talking about it, but majority aren’t doing it. What do you guys think?
Considering that higher oil and energy prices and global warming/climate change are not exactly “passing fads,” themselves, it’s reasonable to assume that a push for economically viable alternative energy solutions will continue, and “going green” will eventually become the norm in a matter of a few decades.

A fad is something that is popular for a short time. If humans are careless and keep abusing the Earth, then it won't be a fad.
Edit: Actually, A LOT of people are Going Green. They are using florescent light bulbs. You just don't see it. People are recycling and using canvas bags. I can keep going on, and on, and on.
Edit 2: We have a mini-van and a Honda, which one do you think we use the most?

I'm trying, I want to get a Hybrid car, but I really can't afford it right now. So I got a small 2008 ford focus.
I really hope it's not a fad, we really do need to treat the earth better

it's only gotten this far, i think, because of Al Gore's movie "an incovenient truth" and subsequent lectures and tours. Maybe someone should start a Truth movement and call it going BLUE~ our planet is 70% water after all, and most of the effects of global warming are going to start with the water cycle. Hydrolytic powered engines could help cut emissions into a fraction of what they are.
It's a fad~ but hopefully it's one that will roll into a real movement.

I'm not in America but I'm going green.
I've ditched the expensive cleaners in favour of vinegar & bicarbonate of soda – not only do they work better it's also less money out of my pocket!
I've finished the last of my liquitabs & am now going to look for something without phosphates – as I will do when I need new dishwasher tablets.
I've started buying my meat & veg from a butcher & greengrocer as there's less packaging & also it doesn't travel as far as meat & veg from the supermarket – and it's cheaper!
