As if nations are going to stick to it…
Which is a shame considering the harm that climate change will cause to the world.
If the history of the system of aid to the poorer nations of the planet is anything to go by it will result in the richer nations getting back $25 in debt servicing for every dollar given.
Capitalism is not a "giving" system. There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.
For the billions promised to cutback carbon emissions the donors will be looking forward to a handsome return on their investment. Isn’t capitalism wonderful? We can pretend we are saving the planet, experience that nice warm glow knowing we have done our best and, even better, we can make a nice little profit at the same time.

No, I don’t think anything real will result from the climate change conference. The Climategate scandal has given a convenient excuse to nations which don’t want to handicap their economic growth with environmental regulations.

Absolutely not, there was not any signed deals, no time limits in fact many countries believe that the CO2 gas is not a hazard due to the E MAIL Scandal.

Observation.
It seems a lot of these conferences are all talk and no action. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope this one results in action.

Something has been agreed but it looks more like a gentleman’s agreement rather than anything else.
So one on side its a start but on the other side its not legally binding.

The expansion of the tar sands in Alberta, Canada will eventually cause irreversible damage and spell the end but this is being denied and heavily covered up by the oil companies.

No. Because no target can be met for as long as the overwhelming majority of people continue with their profligate lifestyles.
A handful of politicians with the best intentions up against billions of normal people with aspirations to live more comfortably at whatever cost.
When I was active with the Ecology Party (now the Greens) around 1980, it struck me that the Party was asking every voter to live like monks, because even in 1980, it was necessary to safeguard the future of the world’s ecosystems. Maybe this is why they never got elected to Government? Instead we got Thatcher, and her spend spend spend non-society.
The mass extermination of most of our biological heritage is now well under way, and may well lead to collapse in the lifetime of my children, and possibly in mine.
I think in the end, economics rather than conscience will force normal people’s hand, and the process will be considerably nastier than it could have been, had we taken a little more trouble over our husbandry in 1980. Like monks, guarding the Covenant from the Vandals, it will be those who can protect their little corners that can grow food and trees and provide sanctuary for wildlife from microbes to large mammals, who will end up the most comfortably off when the catastrophe occurs.
Prophets did not cease to be in Biblical times. We are as wise to heed the modern prophet as we ever were to heed the great prophets of old.

The fact that it’s the number one political and economical talking point is progress in itself. When I was first able to vote (1978) any green issue was thought of as being hppie and laughed away as nonsense.
2030 will be a watershed year with more old people than workers alive. Who will feed us all, and with what?
I think, and hope, that the majority of us won’t wait for politicians but insted, will plant trees, till the land for food, if only getting an allotment, and make our own water purification tablets which I believe is a fairly straightforward process.
If everyone could do this then a lot of our problems would diminish.

the Conference as such was a load of hot air and a pow wow for politicians th fill their ego’s and overfed bellies what the hell were they all needing to gather in Copenhagen for anyway ,Hundreds of useless no goods gathering to talk a load of tosh , right lets get to the facts Global warming,Climate change has now become Carbon emissions what will be the next wonder phrase conjured up to try and confuse the issue , co2 is a heavier than air gas so how does it affect the upper atmosphere also the jet stream of 200 mph would dissipate any traces of the gas even if it did reach the upper reaches to possibly cause any damage Global warming IS a natural occurrence and there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to stop it if it were not for GW we would be sitting under a huge block of ice so the blame for GW must lie with the cavemen learning how to light a fire and cook ,Scientists and politicians along with their tree hugging brethren go and crawl back into your holes and let us get on with our globally warmed existence while we can

Lets face it, they could not organise a p…up in a brewery. A lot of hot air was created which no doubt the experts will interpret as adding to the climate change.
These type of meetings are just "window dressing" exercises for those, who love to hear their own voices and pretend to be experts and are willing to help those that need the help. The end result however, is like the beginning, a load of promises to the future, providing there will be one.
