For decades, the forests of the Congo Basin have been ravaged for wood used as fuel.

Greenpeace is looking to change this. By organizing a series of workshops on solar powered appliances, the environmental organization is hoping to show the Boma community that there are alternatives.

Boma is an important port town in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Boma gives the country access to the Atlantic Ocean. So it’s no wonder that the environmental organization Greenpeace chose Boma as a place to demonstrate the potential of solar power for homes and industry.
