What are the advantages and disadvantages of solar power technology?
Nowadays, we are aware of the issues of global warming. Fortunately, if we really get our skates on, it’s not too late. We can still make an impact on this climate crisis that is ahead of us, which is why so many people are choosing solar power technology.
They are choosing solar power technology because it is clean. It does not give off anything harmful into the atmosphere, so it takes care of the environment. It is sustainable and renewable too, which means that we will not be running out of it any time soon, unlike oil and other fossil fuels that are set to dry up completely within the next 80 years.
Solar power technology offers the exact opposite of what you would get with a coal or nuclear plant. You get clean energy, and you get peace of mind.
While solar power technology can develop good clean electrical energy, you should not forget that exactly how much energy it returns can vary day to day according to the weather. We have no control of the weather so instead, we need to build in storage methods for the solar energy we harness. Another concern is that solar power technology may not be ideally situated if set up in particular regions of the planet. For example, certain parts of Finland only sees two or maybe 4 hours sunlight for a couple of winter months. This would make solar energy impractical in those areas. For these countries, alternative clean energy resources must be developed like geothermal and hydroelectric power.
However, the future is in our hands. We have the applied science and we have the skills and the experience to know what best to do with it. The only thing we need is to do is to put our money where our mouth and back solar power technology. Stop hesitating and get to work on establishing alternative energy centres globally.
