About Future Solar Power For Homes and Energy Generation
Posted on 2009 under Uncategorized | 1 Comment21 Apr

To overcome the long payback period of solar cells, globalchange.com are searching for the next generation solar panel technology. In this process they are seeing that increasing solar panel efficiency is essential.
As things stand right now, for solar power for homes to keep taking off, there remains a need for government subsidies and grants. People have the option of buying in and then selling back their unused soler energy to the national grid. This helps offset some of the costs, but with high prices, a typical solar power for homes system will have a payback period of no less than 7 years. Of course, after that, the home owner will enjoy free electricity for roughly another 20 years, so it is a good deal if you can afford to think ahead, but in the short term, it can be a major obstacle.
This is a video by keynote conference speaker Dr Patrick Dixon in which he points out that 70% of all sales of solar cells in 2008 were bought in Germany. This nation has taken the issue seriously and soon, their major investments will pay off according to all solar cell market sales future trends. Their self-created huge growth in their solar cell manufacturing and innovation base is ensuring that Germany will be able to become self sufficient in renewable energy sooner than any other country at the present rates.
While the U.S. are following in their footprints, countries like the UK are lagging way behind.
With the global crisis at a tipping point, now is the time for all major governments to take this issue on head first and to invest massively in the future well being of the planet and its sentient beings. Now is the time for people like Gordon Brown to take radical action to massively invest in the solar and wind power generating industries.
